The project aims to develop an evidence base for domestic abuse services in the UK and Europe to improve support for Polish migrant women in violent relationships.
There are over 1 million Poles living in the UK, constituting the largest community of Poles living outside Poland and the second largest foreign-born group in the country. However, UK domestic violence services have a very low number of enquiries and use by Polish women. The research is to discover the reasons behind this and develop recommendations for appropriate outreach and support services for Polish migrant women. The findings outputs will be disseminated to domestic abuse services and policymakers in the UK, Poland and other European countries with significant Polish migration.
